My artistic practice is rooted in a rural background in southern Spain, where my early relationship with animals, nature and traditional forms of making became a lasting source of curiosity. My family worked the land, while my grandmother was closely connected to textile practices such as embroidery, weaving, esparto and wicker. These experiences established an early relationship with materials, craftsmanship and the natural world that continues to inform my work.

My education and experiences abroad expanded this perspective. Studying and working in Seville, London and Turin exposed me to different cultural contexts and ways of understanding art. Moving between places also made me increasingly aware of how identity is shaped by context, displacement and belonging. Since 2015, I have been based in Andalusia, where my artistic practice has developed alongside my work as a researcher and educator.

Throughout my career, I have experimented with a wide range of techniques, but drawing has ultimately returned as the cornerstone of my practice. It is the medium I experience as the most direct and unadorned: graphite on paper, without elaborate processes or unnecessary devices. I am drawn to the tension between the delicacy of the material and the intensity of the images it can produce, figures and situations that appear almost tangible, yet remain somewhere between reality, memory and an oneiric archive.

My work has gradually moved from intimate and autobiographical concerns towards broader questions around identity, the body, belonging and the relationship between the individual and the collective. Research remains an essential part of this process, bringing together artistic practice with references from natural history, cultural history, craft and systems of classification. Rather than separate stages, I understand these experiences as layers of the same practice: different ways of looking at bodies, materials, places and relationships, and of asking how we become who we are through what surrounds us.
